Christmas 2024 was a special time at Briarlea Care Home in the Vale of Evesham.
It’s not just about the Christmas decorations, or our festive bell singers and carollers who come each year. It’s about creating a warm, festive atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
One of the highlights of the season is undoubtedly our Christmas Day meal. It’s a cherished tradition that brings together residents and staff alike.
A Festive Feast to Remember
At Briarlea Care Home in Evesham, the Christmas Day meal is more than just a meal. It’s an event filled with laughter, joy, and splendid food. Our dedicated cooks work tirelessly to prepare a festive feast that caters to the dietary needs of our residents. So everyone can enjoy Christmas.
This Christmas we enjoyed a lovely seafood starter of prawn cocktail. We then moved on to a traditional roast turkey crown. Dinner was served with all the trimmings, such as tasty pigs-in-blankets, balls of stuffing and roast parsnips. Of course, Brussel sprouts were on the menu too!
For dessert, residents had the choice of Christmas Pudding with Brandy Creme, Jelly, a Christmas Cheesecake and Fruit Trifle. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared to ensure that each resident enjoyed a hearty meal that felt just like home.
Creating Lasting Memories
Christmas at Briarlea is about creating lasting memories.
The dining area was beautifully adorned. Before lunch, everyone got the opportunity to have a nice photograph taken by the Christmas tree. Then over lunch, residents had the opportunity to pull crackers and share jokes. We found this helped foster a nice sense of community and belonging.
For some residents, 2024 was their first Christmas away from their family home. So we made sure the dining room had lots of festive cheer. This included plenty of Christmas jumpers which were worn by staff and residents alike.
Thoughtful Care and Companionship
Our carers are always on hand to ensure that each resident feels included and cared for at Christmas. In what’s become a Briarlea tradition, we arranged for Santa to pay our residents a visit on Christmas morning. Every resident received a little gift from the home. Most opened them alongside their presents from families and friends.
Staff sat down for their Christmas meal alongside residents, to promote a sense of togetherness at Christmas. We feel it’s these small acts that always make the big day at Briarlea truly special.
