Our Bedrooms
Your bedroom is your own personal sanctuary. A place to be yourself, to unwind after a long day.
At Briarlea, we believe it’s critical that every one of our residents gets the bedroom they want: personalised to their tastes and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that are tailored to their needs.
You’d be amazed at how much the layout of a room and the type of bed, can make all the difference to maintaining an individual’s independence when they reach older age. At Briarlea, we’ve thought all this through.
As standard, our bedrooms are each furnished with:
- A Bed
- A Comfy Armchair
- En suite Facilities
- A Chest of Drawers
- And a Wardrobe
Many of our rooms also feature grand chandeliers and other period decorations from Briarlea’s original Edwardian design. Meanwhile, our new wing includes rooms with walk-in showers, bright windows and a full suite of mod cons that maximise your comfort.
Our rooms are decorated in tasteful, neutral colours and heritage patterns. They’re spacious but not too vast so that you get lost!
If you decide to move into Briarlea, we will encourage you to bring any personal items from home that you would like us to set up in your room.
We know making the move to Briarlea will be a big step for you. From past experience, we’ve found that giving your room those personal touches can really aid in the transition.

The Garden Room
Our Garden Room is the heart of Briarlea. The room sits to the back of the property and opens out on to the manicured lawns of the home.
It’s a lovely place to dwell and take the world in, watch a bit of TV, catch up with some cross stitch or settle down with a nice book.
The Garden room is our largest communal room at Briarlea. It’s where we typically host our monthly singers and other entertainers.
One of our favourites has to be Ken. Ken comes in regularly for a sing-a-long. He’ll play requests and knows all our resident’s wartime favourites. He even dubs the lyrics with the names of our residents. It always sets us off in giggles.
The garden room is where most residents will come to sit in the day. It’s the perfect spot to catch all the action & to chat with fellow residents or the care team.

The Dining Room
At Briarlea, we firmly believe that people live better when they eat together. Mealtimes are a real social occasion here.
As we get older, it’s easy to lose interest in food – especially when you’re living alone. So by making our mealtimes a social occasion to be celebrated, residents who have traditionally eaten little learn by the example of their peers – growing their appetites in the process.
The set up ensures our residents keep their health as robust as possible – so they have enough energy to continue enjoying the things they love to do.
Dining is a leisurely affair. At lunch for example, our residents will sit down to a slap-up meal of shepherd’s pie, roast beef, or fish & chips followed by a home-made pudding like cheesecake or gateau.
Wherever we can, our meals are home made from our talented chefs Lisa and Sally.
Moreover, with the Vale of Evesham on our doorsteps, we ensure that we use local, seasonal food where possible. Our fresh ingredients pack a punch. Residents usually end their meal with a choice of tea or coffee.
The dining room has a fantastic, rustic vibe with 5 bistro-style tables. Some residents also take their lunch in the garden room if they so desire and of course, if you fancy a meal in the privacy of your own room, that’s no problem either. In fact, half our residents opt for breakfast in bed – the perks of retirement!

The Library
Our library is a quiet oasis. It features a grand, dark wood bookcase and a flat screen TV. It’s a lovely, intimate room. We tend to set it up for around 6 people. When friends or loved ones come to visit, we often recommend that you make camp in the library.
Our library is also where we host our much-anticipated movie afternoons. We play all the classics: Gone with the Wind, Dirty Dancing, Grease, as well as more recent titles like PS. I Love You.
Movie events are a wonderful way to get everyone together on a winter’s day.
Our cooks Lisa and Sally will often make popcorn for the residents too. It’s a proper cinematic experience.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be refreshing the Library with a brand new design for 2022 – watch this space for photos!

The Drawing Room
It’s a cosy space, with a love seat for two and a further eight chairs for larger groups. There’s also a big table on which to play scrabble or if you fancy diving into a puzzle.
The drawing room is a gorgeous place to spend an afternoon. From the room’s ornate bay windows, many residents like to sit and observe all the comings-and-goings. Brilliant for people watching.

The Garden
Our garden at Briarlea is a lovely setting to lounge away an afternoon.
The original blackberry briars from which we take our name still flank the left of the home. Their fruit is picked by our handyman Rob every summer – which makes some wonderful treats.
We also have our very own orchard, growing the finest English plums. Our residents have been known in the warmer months to go out and pick the fruit for their weekly cookery club – making crumbles and all manner of yummy desserts.
Our residents will retreat to the garden to laze away summer afternoons. And on crisp winter mornings, others are known to take leisurely ambles around its perimeter, taking in the pristine farmland all around the property. It’s very easy to lose yourself in the beauty of the Evesham countryside.
The garden boasts an even patio, surfaced paths and plenty of outdoor furniture. Meaning whatever their ability, all our residents can enjoy what Briarlea’s gardens have to offer.
