It’s been a whirlwind Easter break here at Briarlea – full of tasty treats, Easter games and all round festive fun.
We started to gear up for the Easter weekend on Holy Tuesday, where residents met in the dining room to sample all the different varieties of hot cross bun – from blueberry, to apple cinnamon and double chocolate. Who knew there was so many types? Simply scrumptious!
Then, on Holy Wednesday, residents showed off their millinery talents by designing their very own Easter bonnets. In an array of pastel colours and decorated with feathers, eggs, daisies and little chicks, the Briarlea ladies looked very chic in their fashion creations.
Lastly, on Easter Sunday, the home awoke to care staff delivering each resident their own personal Easter hamper. In cute little boxes ornately decorated with bunnies, chics and springtime flowers, the hampers contained plenty of sweet treats such as chocolate eggs, biscuits and festive choco-lollies.
It was a sweet way to start the morning, that only got better in the afternoon as we enjoyed special parlour games to celebrate the day. We all had a good laugh at our first game – a holiday hybrid of blind man’s bluff and the egg and spoon race! We then sat down to a game of Easter bingo followed by a special Easter tea with sandwiches, crips, sausage and pork pies, and dainty cupcakes glazed with sugar icing and mini eggs. Eaten off special Easter crockery, the buffet tea was a tasty way to see off the Easter weekend. However you spent your Easter holiday, Briarlea hopes you had as much fun as we all did.
