One word is on everyone’s lips at Briarlea. At that word is surely, ‘VISITS’.
We can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we were forced to close Briarlea’s doors to our loved ones.
Absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder. And we’re delighted to be back open for business, with the easing of lockdown this spring.
We’re busy making all sorts of preparations for the arrival of our residents’ families.
However, before we can welcome anyone, we had one very special visitor to host. The CQC Inspector!
CQC stands for the Care Quality Commission. They are the regulatory body whose role is to oversee the performance of care business in England and Wales.
Their job is to ensure that we provide our residents with the best possible care. They tend to visit once every couple of years to check we’re doing a good job. We’re thrilled to say they’ve classed us a ‘Good’ home in our last two inspection reports. Learn more about what they said by clicking here.
CQC have been working with care providers throughout the pandemic to ensure that homes have the right controls in place to prevent Covid-19 infections.
So, when they came round last week to visit our home, we were more than happy to show them what we’ve been doing.
CQC learnt about our testing regime as well as our use of PPE. They also talked to staff and managers about our knowledge of best practice infection control.
Following their visit, we were thrilled to learn we’d passed our inspection with flying colours.
We’re starting to win the war on this pandemic. Every resident at Briarlea has had their first jab and many have received their second.
But despite this, you can rest assured that we won’t let our guard down. We hope our latest infection control report adds to these reassurances. And we’re looking forward to welcoming you back to Briarlea ASAP.
