Take a Trip on Briarlea Airways!

by | Apr 27, 2021

We’ve all mused about getting away this year.

I know we have at Briarlea. And this week, we certainly didn’t let Brexit, travel bans and border closures put pay to our holiday plans.

As, for a bit of fun, we decided to give our residents the chance to fly on Briarlea Airways. Evesham’s number one airline.

Everyone was given their ticket and a brand new passport – printed that day by Her Majesty’s Passport Officer, Joanne (who coincidentally doubles as our care home manager).

Lisa, fresh in from her day job as Briarlea’s chef, acted as our glamorous cabin crew, diligently checked everyone’s documents. She quite enjoyed the change of scenery as she ushered our eager tourists into the makeshift plane galley.

We were then whisked away to Paris by our pilot Jim, who looked very dashing in his captain’s hat.
Our virtual vacationers were greeted at their destination with a delicious spread of French patisseries – including croissants, pain-au-chocolat, and hazelnut crepes. Bon Appetit!
We all enjoyed a café au lait beneath the Tricolour, before taking a few snaps behind a virtual Eiffel Tower. There was even time to dash to Duty Free before our journey back home.
Like people all other the world, we’ve had to get used to staying at home this year. Thankfully, we’ve been able to keep ourselves occupied. Briarlea has a busy programme of clubs and activities. But, nevertheless, it was still fun to indulge in a bit of escapism.

We may not get to the real Paris anytime soon. However, we’ve still got plenty to look forward to. Now we’ve received our second vaccine dose against Covid-19, we’re planning to see much more of our family and friends over the coming months.

Pity we rushed the duty free. We could have picked up some French champagne to celebrate.
