Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS
Who Are We Looking For?
At Briarlea, we’re looking for people with bright, sunny personalities. People who are caring, who are responsible and people who want to make a real difference in the lives of those we care for.
If you already have experience in care, that’s great! But if you don’t, that’s okay too. As we’ll equip you with all the training you need to be outstanding in your role. Our care and catering team hail from all different sectors including retail, admin, hospitality, as well as school and college graduates.
What Will You Be Doing?
This ultimately depends on the role you apply for.
However in essence, your role will be to support Briarlea’s residents, so they can live the best life they can. To achieve this, you’ll be liaising with their doctors, nurses, and their families. You’ll be crafting bespoke care plans that contemplate how we can improve an individual’s mobility, nutrition as well as their mental and physical health. You’ll consider and prevent hazards. But most importantly, you’ll be chatting and having fun with our residents, building on our efforts to maintain the family environment for which we’re known.
If you’re applying for a role in our kitchen, your day-to-day activities will be more specialised. You’ll be whipping up breakfasts, lunches, suppers and getting involved in custom treats for our home’s activities and special occasions. At Briarlea, we pride ourselves on our homemade meals that use local, seasonal produce. You’ll therefore have lots of creative license with our menu.
Finally, if you apply to our night team, your tasks will differ again. Night to night, your mission will be to make the home look its best ready for the morning. You’ll also be on standby in case any of our residents wake up and need a hand. Be prepared for twilight cups of cocoa with our resident night owls!
Benefits to Working At Briarlea
One benefit of Briarlea is our friendly work environment. We’ve tried to instil a ‘home-from-home’ vibe where both the residents and staff feel they can be themselves. Of course we work hard. But this is coupled with a great team spirit where we all celebrate each other’s successes.
We also invest significantly in our staff training to help you build a thriving career in care. You’ll be given the opportunity to study for an NVQ in Health & Social Care (ranging from levels 2 to 4).
Current Vacancies
At present, we are seeking Care Assistants to join our fab team of staff on full and part time basis. To discover more about shift patterns available, reach out to Briarlea’s Manager Jo. You can contact her via the email at the bottom of this page.
What Is Our Recruitment Process?
After contacting us, we’ll decide whether to invite you for an interview, where we will talk about care and your motivations to join our team. The main purpose of this meeting is to get to know you better.
If you’re successful at interview, we’ll provide you with an application form to complete. This document details your basic information and job history. We’ll also apply for your DBS check to double check you don’t have a criminal record. Finally, we will ask for 3 references to ensure you’re of good character, which includes any references for jobs where you’ve worked with children or vulnerable adults.
Once these all come back, we can welcome you on board! You’ll have a comprehensive programme of shadow shifts and in-house training to build your knowledge of our practices. Then, once you’re ready, we will sign you off to become a fully-fledged member of our team.
We welcome any questions you may have surrounding our recruitment process – so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
