Briarlea Summer Fete

by | Sep 1, 2022

Last weekend, we celebrated Briarlea’s annual summer fete.

The summer fete holds a special place in the heart of many of us here at Briarlea, as it’s the perfect opportunity for residents and staff to enjoy our care home’s grounds in their full glory. In the days leading up to the event, our groundsman Rob was working tirelessly in anticipation for the event – mowing lawns, pruning trees and ensuring our patchwork of flower beds were in full bloom ready for the biggest date in Briarlea’s summer calendar. The fete did not disappoint!

On the day, we were thankfully given respite from the fierce summer heatwave, and residents enjoyed a balmy afternoon while they took tea, coffee and chatted over tasty sweet treats.

We were delighted to welcome many of our families in for the occasion too. After the past few years of pandemic worries, it was brilliant to see residents inviting their loved ones to Briarlea once more.

In line with Covid guidance, Briarlea has recently ushered in a more flexible visit schedule so families can pop in more freely. Families can now visit in both our ornate library or their loved one’s private bedroom. We’ve particularly enjoyed welcoming back our resident’s young grandchildren and great grandchildren, whose return has cemented Briarlea’s family-friendly ethos.

Phoebe, from Silver Belles Music, serenaded us with all our favourite tunes while residents, staff and the local community enjoyed fun, games and a sing-a-long in the sun.

We also hosted a special summer raffle on the day, which raised an amazing £806.62! All the proceeds will go to Briarlea’s resident fund, which will finance trips out for our residents to the beach, local safari parks and other destinations chosen by our residents. We would like to offer a special thank you for everyone who bought a raffle ticket and for our friends in the local community who donated prizes – we all had a wonderful day.
