This summer saw the return of our rocking care home festival – Briarfest.<\/p>\n
Coming of age in the era of rock & roll, swing and Woodstock, it\u2019s no surprise that Briarlea\u2019s residents love a good party! After a tasty breakfast to fuel the day\u2019s festivities, we cleared the diner while residents retired to their rooms to get ready. Donning flower headbands, mesh gauntlets, rose-tinted glasses and beads of many colours, our residents looked the height of hippy chic. Some even sported neon face paint!<\/p>\n
Briarfest was originally conceived to help raise people\u2019s spirits during the pandemic – giving everyone (both residents and staff) the chance for a good dance. The first year was a great success, and we particularly loved how the event gave us the opportunity to come together, dress up\u2026and just be a bit silly! Now running for a second year in a row, Briarfest brought all the good vibes once more.<\/p>\n
In our makeshift festival arena, the music sung out from loudspeakers as staff and residents bopped to their favourite tunes. To make the day authentic, each resident was given their own festival pass and could take photographs in Briarlea\u2019s mock Volkswagen camper van – painted by one of our lovely Care Assistants especially for the occasion. After dancing the afternoon away, residents finished the party by being served burgers & chips in mini styrofoam boxes – a true festival tradition!<\/p>\n
Briarfest was great fun – proving how age is just a number\u2026and that you\u2019re never too old to party!<\/p>\n
